Slate Drawing, Newport Sands Beach, Pembrokeshire Spring 2015

This drawing was made during Low Tide on a March day. The smooth flat pieces of slate were collected from the coves and rockpools and then inserted into the wet sand using their long edges. The resulting ‘sails’ or ‘fins’ formed an undulating rhythmic pattern that snaked from one of the coves out to sea. The drawing measured c. 12ft x 4ft before the sea washed it away.
