Ash Tree Flower Drawing, Clodock, Herefordshire
This was a small sketch made in April 2012 beneath an ash tree in a field in Herefordshire. Many flowers were still on the tree and this drawing was made using the few dried flowers that had already dropped. The flowers were dark burgundy/brown florets with a yellow stalk containing heads filled with little seed-like flowers. The drawing was only small but took time to make as the few flowers that had fallen were spread far and wide. The energy of the tree was effervescent and star like hence the drawings form and feel. The drawing measured c.2.5ft in diameter.
