Acorn Sketch, Brecon Beacons National Park, Herefordshire
This small drawing was made on a Spring day in March underneath a large oak tree. It was made using only the fallen acorn nuts, their shells and cups found under the tree. The centre circle used the acorn cups turned upwards which was then encircled by the outer whitened papery shells which had dried out in the wind and the final outer circle was made using the decaying dark inner acorn nuts which had split into two halves. The sketch measured c. 12 inches in diameter.
