Cider Apple Drawing, Old Country House, Worcestershire
This piece was completed in November 2008 in an orchard at Old Country House (www.oldcountryhouse.co.uk) in Worcestershire. It is made of windfallen apples and measures c.100ft x 80ft. The piece was made by collecting up the windfall appleas from underneath each tree and then laying them by hand in the trail that forms a path or river between the trees. It took seven days to complete. It was a privilege to work in such a peaceful orchard filled with such obliging apple trees. The apples were beautiful and many different varieties were used and their individual colours and characters were beautiful to work with. Thanks to Ella at Old Country House for commissioning the piece, Will for help with photography, Andy for the introduction and Dai for his help in collecting the apples.
