Dried Thistle Stalk Circle, Breacon Beacons National Park, Herefordshire Spring 2016
This small circle was made using gathered dried thistle stalks/roots from the fields on a walk up to Hatterall Hill. The dried hollow bulbs had beautiful flowing lines reflecting the movement of the fibres during their growth. The hollow stems and bulbs lay in the grass having been raked up in the autumn by the tractor. The gathered stalks were laid in a circle on the top of one of the many molehills in the field.
