Slate Pebble Drawing Newport Sands beach, Pembrokeshire Spring 2015

This drawing was made using the flat, smooth slate shale pebbles found on Newport Sands beach on a Spring day at low tide. The beach is situated within view of the beautiful Carningli Mountain which was walked earlier the same day. The drawing emerged from the rocks into the sand and its edges were determined by the trickling rivers of water from the shore to the sea. The pebbles where inserted on their long edges into the wet sand and half concealed to form a swirling rhythmic pattern reaching 7ft across the beach. A few hours later the sea reclaimed the pebbles.
